atlas os: 5 months later

Introduction

Atlas OS is a modification for the Windows operating system which tweaks system settings to get the best performance out of your PC.

Is it still good?

I have been using Atlas OS for the past 5 months and I recently saw many updates (latest is 0.4.0). Before, atlas used to be rocket fuel even for a dual-core Intel CPU. It had more optimized tweaks than other custom OSes and modifications.

They even shipped ISOs which made them easy to install. Now they give you a playbook that runs through AME Wizard and configures itself. I'd sometimes hit bugs that forced me to redo the whole modify-Windows process from scratch.

On top of that, they've compromised performance for compatibility. Overall, the updates haven't impressed me — it's not as good as it used to be.

What can you choose as an alternative? 🤔

Mainly, you can tweak your PC yourself, provided you know how to troubleshoot and have a decent understanding of what each tweak actually does.

Never tweak your PC unnecessarily if you do not know how it affects your PC.

Here is a video I found for a full guide on tweaking the PC yourself.

Conclusion

Computers are an essential part of daily life now. Atlas was at its prime before, but it's started compromising performance — and that decision led to a real drop in how it runs on low-end PCs. So tweaking Windows yourself (picking only the tweaks you actually need) is the best option in my opinion. Until next time — happy gaming, respect your parents, take care, and I'll see you in the next one. Peace out!
